Always room for one more project...

I've been nearly overburdened lately by the amount of projects I've taken on in addition to my regular work and school life. I am taking an algebra class right now, and being that I am completely incompetent at math in addition to having some severe anxiety issues (mostly related to testing) in that subject, much of my free time goes to studying and doing homework. Some friends and I have also organized a Salt Lake City Really Really Free Market and are in the works of producing an anti-authoritarian journal/periodical called The Wasatch Front (more on that as it becomes an actuality). I also have a new tattoo gun and am practicing on lots of grapefruit. I've also continued working on the garden and have increased the number of trips I make over there from one a week to about three. Still working my two jobs, as well, with the killer 20-30 minute commute to downtown.

Hopefully, however, I will be moving soon (within a week if all goes well), cutting my commute time anyways.

Still, I have other projects in mind that I'd like to work on. First, I want to get a bike cart or one of those kid attachments so I can bike to work instead of drive and still get Kiddo engaged in the community on a regular basis.

I also have had this idea brewing in my head lately for a comic book or zine. I keep thinking about people with disabilities, and how their presence is virtually nonexistent in radical communities (not to mention mainstream society), and how to address that in a way that doesn't come off as boring/preachy. The idea I've had would center around a teenager with autism who loves trains (intentionally chose the stereotypical "special interest"), who has run away from home to escape his crazy family who wants to either put him on Lupron or in an institution or something, and finds himself hopping his beloved freight trains around the country... and... ideas get inconsistent from there on. I chose trains, however, because I thought it would be interesting to take a stereotypical special interest like trains and have the person participate in it in an unusual way. Lots of people with disabilities are homeless, so I thought it could provide a forum to discuss those issues as well.

Thoughts?

  2. Thank you, we are excited to be rolling out the first issue at the end of the month...

Oooh, sleep never came easy to this one. I've had a host of sleep issues since infancy and typically sleep four to five hours a night. I only get eight hours of sleep if I've been in bed for over half a day and get up around 2 in the afternoon (like some Saturdays). Good thing there's green tea and coffee. :)
