Pecans and Sugar Cookies

Vegan sugar cookies made with dumsptered bananas.
And thirty pounds of dumpstered pecans!

  1. I love baking vegan goods! I feel better about myself when I do not use animal products for my own benefit, yet I am still only an ovo-lacto-vegetarian. I even occasionally eat fish that is on the non-endangered list. There is no way that I would ever go back to other meats, after knowing about the hidden facility conditions and the environmental effects. I wonder if life is even worse for dairy/egg livestock, as they are basically being enslaved by humans.

  3. We eat dairy and eggs occasionally around these parts, but dumpstering animal products is a lot sketchier than plants, and I wouldn't pay for the stuff unless it came from an extremely reliable, local farmer. We're also trying to arrange for chickens in the garden, but we need to tackle some fencing and legal issues first.

Sadly, animals who are part of pretty much any industrial farm aren't going to have happy lives, whether they're butchered for meat or drained of milk for a few years and then butchered for meat. It is also really hard to visit a factory farm and verify animal conditions, mostly because they're so gruesome and no one would eat eggs if they saw how the animals lived.

I'm happy you are writing a blog, it offers many insights to help me teach better in the future and look at autism/disability in different perspectives.

    Thanks for commenting. :)
